  • Adding my wife to our property deeds.

    Dear Legal Beagles.

This month my wife and I have been married for ten years. We met later in life, and I already owned a little bungalow. In 2004 I invited my wife to live with me here, and life was so good that we married in December 05.

Although I feel sure that she already has protection if I should die first, I would like to add my wife's name to the Title Deed of the property, for any increased protection that this might give to her.

If this is unnecessary and she has full protection anyway, please do reassure me about this, but I would like to know how to go about getting her name on the Deeds anyway.

    All the best, oldbadger.

    Congratulations.
Assuming this is registered property you need to use Form TP1 https://www.gov.uk/government/public...t-transfer-tp1

Can be downloaded from here: https://www.gov.uk/government/collec...registry-forms

and here's an article about the advantages of transferring to joint names http://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/e...deeds-too.html
