  • Advise on how to hand house back to mortgage lender after relationship breakdown.

Hi, I am looking for advise on how to hand back a property to the mortgage lender. The mortgage is 8 months in arrears, I am unable to make payments on there as I am currently unemployed and on JSA. I left the property in August 2014 after I split with my partner and he is currently living at the house, but not making any payments either although he is in full time employment. I don't want the property and he's told me he has no intention of making any payments on the mortgage at all. We have had the mortgage for over 10 years now, and I have been advised that it would probably be better to cut my losses and hand it back. I know he won't agree to this. We also have a second secured loan on there in both names and a charging order in his name. Please could you advise me on this as it is very stressful?

    Thanks
