Hi everyone. I've just joined the forum to learn more about dealing with the idiots who keep harassing me for someone else's debts. I could understand the mistake if we had the same name but I'm getting a little tired of telling them verbally to take a hike and I'm running out of free slots to block their numbers...

Re: Hi
I changed my number 6 months ago when I changed ISP because I was getting harassing calls from a relative.
Since then I've had various calls asking for someone I don't know. The last one informing me they were working on behalf of the local Borough Council. On every occasion I've been here to answer the phone I've informed them politely that I don't know this person and to stop phoning me as I consider it harassment. I've just ignored and deleted any messages on the answerphone.
I've looked around at the advice on the forum and intend to send a letter direct to the Council telling them to stop harassing me for someone else's debt. My number is always ex-directory so they wouldn't be able to find a public listing for me and very few people have it. Ironically it is in their database because it's my contact number for my council tax but they specifically do not have my permission to pass it on to anyone else.
It's only for my ADSL and incoming calls.Last edited by Celia56; 14th July 2015, 21:21:PM.
