Just to comment my personal view on an IVA as an option. I have seen many people enter IVAs with the majority failing somewhere along the line to maintain the committed payment plan. Sometimes this is simply down to the insolvency practitioner working with theoretical figures that in practice seldom stand up as 'living reality' kicks in. And sometimes a five year plan is a long time to maintain repayment when historically the debtor hasn't been able to do it before. However, properly set up and properly maintained, it can release the debts in return for a smaller amount being repaid under agreement and over a limited period of time. Of course, you have to get agreement passed your creditors which can be tricky.
