  • help with vt

Hi im looking for help with my vt. I bought an 08 megane in sept 11. Payments started in nov. Ive payed 3 and a half years so the car is payed for. Manheim came to inspect the car and take it away. I signed to say this but ticked the box that i didnt agree with the stuff he put down. When i bought the car it had bumps and scrapes on it. Ive just got a bill through for £990. Do i have to pay this? Also they took another payment out of my account after the vt was through.
Any help appreciated. If i dont call to sort this they are passing it on to a debt collection agency

    Hello arsproul.
Your 2008 Megane is now 6 to 7 years old and is expected to have scuffs, scrapes and dings commensurate with age.
As you said, it was 3 years old when you got it and I bet there was some minor damage there already.
If Mannheim have assessed the damage and you disagree with them, I'm surprised you signed their form.
What, precisely did the form say?
Your options will include getting an independent engineer to assess the vehicle. Minor damage might devalue the 7 year old car by £100 to £200 but £990 is ridiculous.
Have you written to them disputing their valuation?

Hi sean5302. Thank you for replying. It wasn't a form, it was 1 of those hand held things. (No idea what they are called). I ticked the box for disagreeing with his findings and signed it. Ive not phoned or written to them yet as im really unsure what my next step should be.

Always write. Never phone. (People tell lies).
        So that's your first step.
Write to them, telling them you disagree with their valuation of a 7 year old car.
Ask them what dispute resolution procedure they have.

Thank you for telling me that. I will start writting them a letter right now and send it by recorded delivery. Then they cant say it got lost in the post.
