• Hi all

New to this site. My husband is trying to trace a standing order which appears on his late brother's bank statement. There is no account or sort code number only his name and the amount. He has been paying it since at least 2007.
The bank says it cannot trace standing orders!
We really need to find where this money is going, any help would be appreciated please.

Re: Hi all

If there's money going out of his 'late' brother's account, then the executor/administrator of his estate can request that the standing order is stopped ... I'm not sure how you could find out who this money has been going to :sorry: but I'm sure you'll get lots of advice from the knowledgeable Beagles
leclerc ... any ideas??

Kati, if the account is in sole names then the account should be stopped due to this once a valid death certificate is given to the bank....

Re: Hi all

The bank will have an account number and sort code so that is the starting point. You can then send a letter to be forwarded on by the relevant bank to the standing order beneficiary as well

Thanks for the help. The bank says it doesn't have any details on standing orders which I find hard to believe, so is unable to tell us where it is going!
The account has been frozen, so no money is going out or coming in.

That is nonsense. They will have the account number and sort code as to where the money was sent. The executor of the estate will be able to get hold of the details from the bank...

Yes I agree with you. A letter has been sent to the head office requesting this information. We will have to wait and see. Will let you all know the outcome.
Thanks again.
