Re: moorcroft
Hi Kaz ... can you tell us more?
You say it's a credit card debt ... Who was it with? When was it taken out? How long ago did you default?
What letters have you had before today? From who?Debt is like any other trap, easy enough to get into, but hard enough to get out of.
It doesn't matter where your journey begins, so long as you begin it...

Re: moorcroft
The most important things to remember are.
1. The doorstep collector or whatever meaningless title Moorcrap deem to give them now has absolutely No authority apart from spouting his " company script!
2. You are under no obligation whatsoever to discuss anything at with him.
3. If this person should show up again " invite" to leave your property immediately any refusal or argument call the police and tell them you feel threatened.
4. He cannot demand money, access to your property, insist you converse with him.
5. There is no need to be scared of this rif raf.

Re: moorcroft
You re mistaking a debt collector for a court bailiff . debt collector has no power , none whatever and works on persuasion to get money from people . Actually most of them are self employed . I used to work for moorcroft many years ago . A bailiff / enforcement agent can only be appointed after a county court claim has been issued and a judgment given . There are processes the creditor must go through before the bailiff can be sent so dont panic. Dont talk to moorcroft do everything either by email or in writing so that there is a paper trail .

Why did you stop paying? When there's a court order, you need to apply to the court to vary the terms of the order if you cannot longer afford them. If you just stop paying they can enforce the debt via attachment of earnings, warrant of control, etc.
Can you please clarify whether there is a judgment?

Before any enforcement action could take place the creditor Must:
Issue a claim in the county court.
You defend the claim if you lose the claimant can>
Be awarded a judgement.>
Can only apply for a warrant if the defendant does not
adhere to the judgement order.
The use of the " man in the dirty mac" is just another means of intimidation, so tell him to " go forth and not to come back"!!!
