  • Hello everyone,I am a new 'bod' on this site I believe is very good.

Hi everyone I am a new 'bod' on this site I believe is very good.
I am having terrible trouble with O2 and Carphone Warehouse. I took out contract abt a month ago 500 mins any calls uk,(with free phone and pad) and what I thought was told 4G internet About 3 weks later got horrendous bill £160+ for going over allowed mins and internet allowance.
I cannot afford this I am very annoyed/upset as android tech new to me, I assumed once I have used 5oo mins phone calls and the Internet allowance I would not be able to make anymoe calls etc. Alas no I didnt even get a warning I was coming near my allowance threshold, let alone NOT being told in Carphone Warehouse shop (when taking out contract) that NO WARNING/INDICATION IS GIVEN. Am I correct in saying (legally)that I have been mis sold this product ? Thanks. Chacha

    Welcome aboard

It's not a legal requirement for a mobile company to warn you when you are reaching/exceeding your allowance. Some companies offer that service but they only have an obligation to do so if it's stipulated on the terms of your contract with them. Have you looked at your contract to see if there's any mention of that?

Mobile contracts normally allow you to exceed your free allowance and charge you for the excess at an agreed rate, this should all be written on your contract. You're probably thinking more of pay as you go where once you run out of credit you can no longer make calls or use the internet. Take a look at the terms of your contract and make sure you haven't been charged for anything you shouldn't have been.

Bear in mind that your data allowance can be used up even when you are not actively surfing the net or using email on your phone, as long as the data service is active on your phone. Have you been abroad by any chance?
