  • Hi first timer here with a maternity rights Q

While on maternity my wife was overlooked for a permanent contract within Royal Mail,as a part time worker she had always hoped at some point she would be given the opportunity to get a full time contract but she recently found out a fellow part time employee was given full time status even though my wife had seniority through length of employment .
My question is are they within the law and if not what would she be entitled to do This occurred nearly 8 yrs ago any help would be appreciated thankyou

I don't think there is anything that could or would be done about this now or 8 years ago.

According to maternity rights all employees while on maternity had to be informed of promotional opportunities

An explanation would be nice because she has now been forced to change jobs to a role she doesn't feel happy in which would not have happened if she had a full contract

Getting a permanent contract is not necessarily a promotion.
Is promotion not a reward not aright?

Probably not classed as promotion but within Royal Mail seniority counts and she has basically been denied the opportunity to earn a higher wage and now it also appears she may be subject to redundancy
