  • Just to say Hi, information regarding swift bailiff services

Hi all and hope youe all well.

Just some information needed about swift bailiff services. Just a preview of my self . I am a Mother to a 5 year old Son, i am also married. I am in a lot of debt. I suffer awfully with anxiety and i have a specific learning disability know as a dyspraxia. I tend to get myself in a lot of mess and not intentionly doing this on purpose, i have really weak budgeting skills, and my background and childhood has made me the person i am today, i have had and asked for more help with my memory and concentration, its like banging my head agaisnt a brick wall.

Right lets get down to the nitty gritty, my favourite people, bailiffs. I have had many dealings with bailiffs, poll tax mainly, that one was a 3000, debt left by my ex husband.

I blame the local council as they put on all me and make me ill with anxiety etc, i have sent letters and concerns explaining my condition and could they be easier on me. i am now paying that bailiff firm £20 a month, thanks to help of CAB. recently i have had a fine for a tv licence, to which i did offer the courts £5 a week, however with my memory and losing the letters, i forgot, which is not myself, this was transferred to swift bailiff services.

i recieved a letter saying the debt had gone up to £250. I knew i needed to get intouch with swift and deal with this before it got out of hand. so i sent and enquiry asking to pay by installments as we are on a low income.my husband work partime, i recieve WTC. was recieving DLA, now thats finished ,i lost the case. Hey ho two weeks down the line, a bailiff knocks my door,i was on my own, and don't like answering the door , my husband was picking my Son up.i left the lights on, the front door was unlocked which i didn't know(this bailiff was shouting thru my letter box and kept knocking the door)thinking it was important(i thought it was the police and getting worried)answered it. he explained who he was and that i owed £500, i said thats extreme as i owed £250 before that. H e emphisized it in front of my neighbours, embaressing me, but i told him he wasnt coming in, and that i messaged them about a payment plan, apparantly they didn't recieve it. i was getting agitated and upset, my husband came back and took over, He said you have upset my wife, whats this about, (big mistake) my husband let him in, when i told him not to, he didn't have a court order either, he never produced it.

He came in, asking and demanding £500, asking my husband to ring his employment, if they would pay it, asking family, neighbour. i was crying and agitated and told him to get out, he said if you want me to leave i will, but i asked him 4 times to leave he wouldn't, just kept watching me, he was very intimidating and creepy. this was also infront of my 5 year old son. who was getting worried and scared.I have a washing machine and freezer from brighthouse on hp, and a tv from family vision, he said he would take to pay of the debt, i told him that there not paid for and taking something that dont belong to me is theft, He replied that he had an arrangement with brighthouse and family vision. that he could take them and whatever they sold them for, i would have to pay the balane to theses companies.

he was talking to someone on his phone or radioe, that i didnt have the money, and bring the van around to remove the good, he then commented on my laptop, i told him that the university gave to me from my DSA allowance and its used for studying, i told him, he cannot take that. he was just stood in my house for around an hour, frightening me and my son, my husband was also agitated, i was really anxious and nearly having a panic attack, , i told the bailiff this, and he just stood there saying to my husband, this will get grim, when we take the stuff out. i went upstairs with my Son upset and agitated. i told my husband to bring my phone up . The bailiff said to my husband why does she want her her phone, he told the bailiff i was calling the police, to deal with this.

It was my last option, i was getting anxious and felt ill.he spoke to someone on his radio, he told my husband after speaking to someone on his radio, we will give you 24 hours to get money, we will be back then and he left. I phone straight away, a emrgency number for CAB, debt line also, they were fantastic, how they understood me i don't know, i was really upset and anxious. They gave me some good advice. Then visited my Local CAB office, they had nothing postive to say and said i should of dealt with it earlier, i said i did and sent the bailiffs a message weeks beforehand. The CAB asked me if i followed it up, i said no, try to explain my dyspraxia, anxiety to the CAB office, to be honest i felt worse coming out of the CAB and when i went in. they had nothing positive to say.

My husband went into brighthouse, asking them if they had an arrangement with swift bailiffs, and if the bailiffs were allowed to take stuff owed to brighthouse. Bright house told my husband, that wasn't true, and it was illegal for bailiffs to do this. They were getting intouch with management. hopefully make a complaint agaisnt swift bailiffs.

Let me clarify that i am medication, and also take beeta blockers because my anxiety is pretty bad. i am waiting for counsilling. I had to ring the courts on Wednesday to stop bailiff action, they told me to ring Swift bailiffs and put me through to someone who deals with vunerable people, i spoke to them explaining my vunerability, they have put it on hold for 21 days, until i obtain medical eveidence, i seen my Doctors yday, explained the situation, hes writing a letter that i am his patient and they need to leave me alone for time being due to anxiety, while i sort this debt out .i am also sending a letter to the courts about this certian bailiff, how he watched me nearly have a panic attack, how unprofessional he was, in front of my 5 year old son, and now my anxiety is really bad, from the trigger of it, he wouldn't leave when i asked him to, and acting above his power by throwing his weight around, and how he just stood there watching me like a bad presence in my house for nearly an hour. some message ey, just needed to get it of my chest. Thankyou.

Re: Just to say Hi, information regarding swift bailiff services

    Hi and welcome to LB!

I'm sure you will get lots of help and advice from the other Beagles on here

I would advise you to keep everything in writing when dealing with bailiffs - that way you have letters you can look back at if you need to find some information!

It's good that it has been put on hold, this will give you time to sort things out a bit I think you need to find out what charges have been added to your account. There seems to be a big change in the amount owed (in my opinion).

Your local MP would be able to write to the bailiffs on your behalf if you asked them to (and explained everything). Sometimes it means the bailiffs are a little less gung-ho about things (they get an official letter from an MPs office and start being ' nicer')Bailiffs cannot take goods that do not belong to the debtor, so anything from Brighthouse etc... (that you are still paying for) has to be left alone!

Debt is like any other trap, easy enough to get into, but hard enough to get out of.
