        Re: Hello

Thank you very much. There is one question to which you may well know the answer. I'm writing a story at the moment and have a question: Although it is legal for a 16 year old to play the lottery could a parent or guardian then 'take over' the money against the young person's wishes until they reached majority?

There was a 16yr old called Callie Rogers who won the lottery some years back ... her parents didn't take over the money (although I think she was reported to have blown the lot within a few years). I'm not 100% sure, but (in my opinion) if you are deemed legally old enough to PLAY the lottery, then surely you should also be seen as old enough for the responsibility of managing a win!!

Maybe another Beagle will know for sure tho??

              Re: Hello

I agree one would think that a 16 year old would be able to have a say but they are still, in the eyes of the law, minors and remain so until aged 18 so there it room for the legal 'buggeration factor' to creep in here. Maybe a trust or equivalent set up by the lottery company to protect the winner's interests would be the way to go. I did try to contact Camelot on this issue but received no response.
              Thanks for your reply.
