I have managed to get a paltry £275 in fees refunded and am in the process of claiming back more but am having to go through the FOS as £275 is only a fraction of what I have already paid under duress.

If you want to start a claim for fees and charges you need to send a SAR to Rooftop first of all and then let us know what they send you.

A full statement of account with a breakdown of all fees and charges added to the account is needed before you know exactly how much to claim but they are reluctant to send this even though they have to by law.

Let us know if you need any further help with a SAR or making a claim once you have received all the paperwork.

While we are on the subject of Rooftop, does anybody know when Rooftop sold their mortgages to Farringdon?

        18) Rooftop Mortgages

        • Rooftop Mortgages started in June 2003. Rooftop Mortgages stopped lending on April 18, 2008. The lender’s future was left in doubt after the acquisition of its parent company, Bear Sterns, by JPMorgan Chase. The mortgage book is now managed by Crown Mortgage Management.
        • In July 2008, Rooftop offered existing mortgage holders up to 15% discount to help them remortgage with another lender and effectively reduce their mortgage book.
        • Rooftop Mortgages was a specialist lender that dealt exclusively through packagers.

Thanks for this. It seems that they are very awkward and are trying to get rid of their book.

Hi, Mollycat100. Do you have a Rooftop mortgage? Are you having problems with them?

Let us know, we may be able to help, or, you may be able to help us with another piece of the puzzle!

Obviously Rooftop have stopped trading and sold their mortgage book but does anybody know when they started having problems and knew they were selling their mortgage book?

They didn't just develop problems overnight and decide to sell so they must have known for some time they were having problems and were closing down, does anybody know when?
