  • Just a quick to say hi

    I am new, and any advice would really help... I currently found the courage to take out a non molestation order on my ex partner to stop myself and my girls going through any more abuse, I had my own company and made a good living. My ex has taken any savings we had taken both cars, finding hard to cope I have had an emotional breakdown. I have applied for employment support allowance and cold tax credits until these come through I am struggling to keep us warm and to feed my children can a one suggest any help I can get I feel like a total failure and I don't know where to turn next

    Hi and welcome to Legal Beagles.

    With regard to the savings, whose name was the account in or was it a joint account? With regard to food, do you have a food bank near to where you live? They may be able to help you in the food department. As regards heating, have you spoken to your energy supplier and explained the current situation to them? Also, how old are your children? This may have a bearing on what help your energy supplier can provide.

    As regards the final sentence of your post -

    1. You are NOT a failure;
    2. None of this is your fault;
    3. Coming onto Legal Beagles to ask for help shows that you are not afraid or too proud to ask for help. Well done.

    Other Legal Beagles members will, I have no doubt, be along later to offer advice and point you in the direction of agencies who can help you at this time.
    Life is a journey on which we all travel, sometimes together, but never alone.
