    can anyone please advise on this I am executor of an estate and items have been withheld (including motor vehicles) when discussed with my solicitor doesn't seem to think its worth taking any action to retrieve them

    BY Law, only the executor of the estate has the power to withhold and sell assets belong to the estate. I believe if a third party has withheld assets belonging to the estate or sold them then it amounts to theft i would say.

    Who has withheld/sold the items? Are they a beneficiary of the will?

        What motor vehicles? Age and makes and models, unless the solicitor is an expert in evaluating vehicle prices, sounds a bit rash to write the off when they could hold substantial value.
