    its been 7 years since i had a car loan with wfg . im still paying for it although ive not heard or spoken to anyone from them for years , i also have no paperwork from them or seen any such like since i signed on the dotted line 7 years ago, so in my wisdom after hearing they had gone under i stopped the direct debit on friday and low an behold ive started recieving texts from WFG asking to get in touch about my overdue account . can anyone advice me please . thanks carl

    What was the term of the loan? 7 years seems too long for a car loan!

      Vehicle finance is structured over 60 months max

        It sounds like they have been milking you, in fact creaming you! Please read all the threads on here with regard to Welcome Finance and do a DSAR asap. DO NOT get intimidated by them in the meantime and DON'T talk to them over the phone, keep all communications in writing.

          i paid for first 2 years and had to cut payments in half because of the child support agency catching up with me so i signed a restructure of which ive never ever seen any statements and its near 8 years now and not 7 .thanks for all your replies. should i just ignore the text messages from WFG whoever they are ??

            DID YOU SIGN A NEW AGREEMENT WITH LOWERING YOUR REPAYMENTS AND EXTENDING THE LOAN, OR WAS IT DONE OVER THE PHONE???

              As Ruby suggested above, you need to send them a SAR to get your statements and see where you stand. They have 40 days to respond. Send it by recorded delivery with a cheque or PO for £10 which is the statutory maximum fee.

              Dear Sirs

              Subject Access Request - S.7 Data Protection Act 1998

              Please supply me with a copy of all information your company hold on me including a list of accounts and details of payments along with copies of statements.

              Under the Data Protection Act 1984 and 1998, and including the right of subject access under these acts, I hereby request that you supply me with any and all historical data in your possession which, in any way appertains to me, including (but not exhaustively) a copy of the original signed executed agreement; statements of account; duplicate statements and/or print outs of all account transactions; all internal and external correspondence sent or received by you including memos, logs, notes, screen prints and transcripts; notes of manual interventions such as telephone attendants' notes, copies of stored telephone conversations, internal and external emails; any other information held on all types of media in any relevant filing system (microfiche included). If you have disclosed any information to a third party (with or without my express permission), will you please include details of this in your reply, along with notes of any legal action passed or pending (to include a true copy of default notices, court orders and the like).

              If you store any of the older records on microfiche, please be aware that the Information Commissioner deems this to be a relevant filing system under the Act. As such, any microfiche data must be sent to me in fully legible and comprehensible form.

              Where any information that you provide includes any charges, for example returned payments, late payment fees, and so forth, would you please advise your breakdown of actual costs (liquidated damages) incurred for each charge, and the Term or Condition on which you rely upon to claim such a charge. I also require that you forward a true copy of the Terms and Conditions that were in force at the time my account was opened, and any subsequent amendments to those Terms and Conditions.

              I enclose the statutory maximum fee of £10.00 to access ALL data held by you about myself. You should be fully aware of your statutory obligations under the Data Protection Act and that any failure to comply with this request will involve a complaint to the ICO as well as potential legal action.

              You have 40 days in which to comply with this request and note that this request has been sent Recorded Delivery so I can ensure compliance on these issues comply within the legislative time frames.

                  i remember signing something but nothing was ever explained to me or how long the terms would be over it was all very cloak and dagger stuff i was summoned to the local welcome office and treated like a idiot basically but my finances were in such a pickle i had to sign to lower payments. thanks again to all

                    thanks again to all for your kind replies , i did sign a restructure at the local welcome office after being summoned for missing a payment ,they even rang my employer to find me ! im worried they wiil do that again are they even allowed to ring my employer ?? like i said ive not received any statements in the 8 years they have been fleecing me ! ive worked out that ive possibly paid up to £9000 for a "w" registration vehicle which was scrapped 5 years ago . thanks again .carl

                      On the back of what you have just said don't pay them another penny!!!!! If they threaten to reposes your car you can tell them the name of the scrap yard its in!!

                      Stay strong, we are hear to help you and give you moral support against rogue traders.

                      Do not get intimidated by them and get that DSAR urgently.

                      Welcome finance make my toes curl and are one step up from convicted criminals.

                      Can someone PLEASE tell me how they manage to keep going?!

                              A creditor can contact your employer if they have not been able to make contact by other means.

                              Strict safe guards are in place though, they cannot identify themselves as a creditor to your employer.

                              They can say "its a personal business matter" or leave a number to call back on
