    asked to pop in and introduce myself

    hi all, came across this site looking up a couple of your favorites lowells and 3 mobile and found more than enough to justify registering.
    spent about 2 hours going through the forum with the wife, checking out some of the things under discussion and liked what i saw and heard.

    Hi Warpspawn, and welcome to you and to your good lady. Yes - we even have the occasional insomniac 'night shift' here !!! I'm pleased you like what you saw, and I hope we can help you.       "Although scalar fields are Lorentz scalars, they may transform nontrivially under other symmetries, such as flavour or isospin. For example, the pion is invariant under the restricted Lorentz group, but is an isospin triplet (meaning it transforms like a three component vector under the SU(2) isospin symmetry). Furthermore, it picks up a negative phase under parity inversion, so it transforms nontrivially under the full Lorentz group; such particles are called pseudoscalar rather than scalar. Most mesons are pseudoscalar particles." (finally explained to a captivated Celestine by Professor Brian Cox on Wednesday 27th June 2012 )
