  • Need support

    Hi
I am Colin. I have a number of issues I am trying to resolve. This is not easy with a mental health problem namely depression. Latest episode is two men from High Court Collections called at my shop for an unpaid debt. I have dealt with these two before and told them i had a mental health problem at that time. The situation the first time was fraught - I was under a lot of pressure and pretty down at the time - this didn't help. Nor was the fact my wife was not too happy. Upshot was I went off with a kitchen knife and was away for two days wrestling with my brain that was trying to kill me. These guys knew what i had done. This time around one, as a joke, produced a retractable stanley knife and asked if I needed it. I got rid of them as fast as I could and then did the research. This is my latest part of the research.
I am a person who does get involved if there is something wrong in society. Harassing people with mental health problems is wrong. This time I was in a stronger frame of mind despite having taken the decision to close my shop. But if I wasn't I shudder to think.
So I am here to support and participate. I may have a mental illness but I am not stupid. Churchill was a depressive and he didn't do badly

      Re: Need support

Hi Colin, and welcome to you. Many of us here have illnesses - some mental - some physical. I agree that stupidity is a totally different problem. As you say - Churchill was a depressive. Very often, it seems, those who have a higher level of intelligence suffer from that - because higher intelligence seems to exact a higher price. Me - I'm in the cheap seats - but I have seen so many decent people suffer from the thuggery that is now the apparent norm in our supposedly 'civilised' society, that I have at least chosen to leave my seat.

Even I can see that the behaviour of those thugs was disgusting. You are not alone here, sir, I can assure you. You have researched well, I believe.

Thanks for your post. Artistic types tend to be more depressive than most - painters, sculptors, writers, musicians and actors. It is a hard thing to fight at times but to my mind ignorance of this illness has to be fought against and injustice as well. This idiot is not going to get away with it. He will regret his actions. If he loses his job then tough. I just want to tie him and his friends up in knots and wake up the legal system that sanctions these buffoons - there are much better ways of doing the job. No-one likes debt but there are ways to sort it out peacefully. My wife is terrified of bailiffs and she is a pretty strong woman I can imagine many people who are scared to death of them. That is not fair and to my mind a violation of their human rights.
One thing that i have found is that if you start to use the law or rules against them they don't like it. That is why i have gone to the Court they will take a very dim view. As they say stand up top bullies and they will leave you alone - most of the time.
