  • Hello from Jess

    Hello Legal Beagles,

After a few glances over my Aunts shoulder, I decided to get a profile myself, especially after asking her to ask a question and being told, do it yourself cheeky!! I don't think she meant it literally, but

Also Dad wanted to help a member more as hes a single dad, but hes also a technophobe.. and all it would be is Jess.. do this for me!

The question I wanted to know the answer to is this: My dad's girlfriend is from Finland and she wants us all to go to Finland on holiday, I'd love to go but as im not 18 till September, can Dad apply for a passport for me as I have no idea where my mother is, but she's on my birth certificate?

    Thanks all

    Hi Jess

    Welcome to Legal Beagles

To answer your question, as your over 17 you can, i believe, apply for an adult passport yourself - See this government link for more information http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/TravelAn...port/DG_174098

In otherwords, you do not need your dad to apply for you and it doesn't matter where your mother is as you will not need her help for applying either.

              Re: Hello from Jess

It is DEFINITELY 16 yrs old. I found this out recently when my daughter applied for a passport successfully with absolutely no permission or input from me
"Although scalar fields are Lorentz scalars, they may transform nontrivially under other symmetries, such as flavour or isospin. For example, the pion is invariant under the restricted Lorentz group, but is an isospin triplet (meaning it transforms like a three component vector under the SU(2) isospin symmetry). Furthermore, it picks up a negative phase under parity inversion, so it transforms nontrivially under the full Lorentz group; such particles are called pseudoscalar rather than scalar. Most mesons are pseudoscalar particles." (finally explained to a captivated Celestine by Professor Brian Cox on Wednesday 27th June 2012 )

Hi Jess, and welcome to ya.

Yep - if you want a job doing properly, do it yourself !!!

If it was me, I'd have said 18 years old.

You got an answer from someone who has truly been there and got the T-shirt.

"Every day's a school day," as they say !!!
