Hi, I am seeking advice with regards to the legalities around essential car users allowances. My post is classed as requiring access to vehicle for work purposes, this used to carry an allowance which was taken away last year.

In the last two days, work have informed us that we now need to pay for parking even though I need to use my own vehicle to carry out my duties. I would appreciate some advice on whether this is in fact legal as I have been informed that if I refuse to use my car for work I will be in breach of contract.

What does your contract of employment say about this area?
