Last June i received a letter from the above mentioned with regards to an unpaid debt with Lloyds. I left it be and only just this morning i received a phone call from them asking if i was who i was. I didn't answer and asked why and what they were after but they wouldn't say because off the data protection act. I am in a new home with a new partner and new phone line and was wondering what do i do next? Any help please?

Just ignore them, if they continue to call you do not answer their questions and simply state put it in writing. Then if the do write to you, you simply send back to them what is know as a proof it letter - Though we will go into details on that if and when they write to you.

Mackenzie hall are basically the bottom feeders in the debt collection world, they deal largely in statuted barred debts or debts that would not otherwise be able to enforce in court, such as lack of CCA etc.

When was the last time you had any dealings with Lloyds? If it was over 6 years ago then any debt is statuted barred, or 5 years if you happen to live in scotland.

Thank you for your replies, i do hope it works ad the debt is over 9 years or more old, but i'm going through a divorce and i don't need the added stress. I will post if i hear anymore from them.

In that case simply tell them on the phone, look the debt is over 9 years old, it is statuted barred. If you continue to call me or send me any more letters i will deem it as harassment in breach of the protection from harassment act 1997 which is a criminal offense punishable by custodial sentence. Then Say - now **** off and hang up.

Trust me their employees are mean, retarded scots (nothing against the scots as they are lovely people in general) and they will likely swear to blue in the face at you and threaten you down the phone given a chance. So get the first swear word in first then hang up before they can respond - Its very gratifying LOL.

How many years or decades ago was the alleged debt incurred?

When was any payment or written acknowledgement last made regarding this alleged debt?

It may not be SB if there has been any payments of affirmation of the debt within the past 6 years.

On the other hand, it is being chased by Mucky Hall, who seem not to care about the limitation acts.

Its also for Mackhenzie hall to prove the debt is not statuted barred and to prove any alleged payments were made by the alleged debtor, simply stating they were payments or the payments were made by the debtor is not proof that there was payments or they were made by the alleged debtor - Despite what Mackhenzie Hall would try have you believe.
