Hi everyone,
This is the first time I have posted so please bear with me as I learn to reply etc. We had a visit from Davies Enforcement this Saturday morning, at 07.00 AM, over a Wandsworth Council parking fine that I had appealed and was rejected. The last correspondance that was sent was dated 21/07/11 requesting £200.44 within 14 days, and this was while we were away, so I did not receive it until the following week, when I phoned the Council and explained I had been away, that I was willing to pay it as soon as possible but as I have not worked for 6 months due to a back injury, and was ill with stress as a result, I would not be able to pay the full amount straight away. They said they could do nothing, and referred me back to the Bailiffs, Davies Enforcement. Every time I phoned I got no answer, and they don`t appear to have a website. When these two guys turned up, my family were in bed, and they woke us up. I went to the Balcony to see who it was and they shouted out "Bailiffs ou have to pay us £540 pounds" I said I don`t have that money, and he said "well we`re taking your vehicle". I said we had no notice of this to which he replyed that a letter had been sent on the 14th, which we certainly did not receive. I asked how much it was again and, referring to a phone he was holding, he checked again and said "oh, it`s £460" I said I can`t pay all of that now, and explained my circumstances -" So you`re refusing to pay then- we will take your vehicle." I said "I`m not refusing to pay, I just can`t pay all of that right now, if you take my vehicle I will call the Police, you are harrassing me "- this was embarrassing as the neighbours were probably getting disturbed as well. The Police said they could do nothing if it was a court order, even though I felt they were intimidating me into paying, without the decency of any negotiation on their part.
I have tried phoning their office several times this morning, not only is there no reply, but they are clever enough not to have an answerphone, so I can`t even leave a message, so though they have enforcers out in the field, they have no-one to advise or take payment in the office, knowing full well it is a bank holiday weekend, that I, as a parent will need this vehicle and I will now incur extra penalties on top- so sly and underhand. Yes, I should have paid it beforehand, I took my family for a well earned break and had to face bills when we returned, however if you want to and are willing to pay, surely they should accept something towards it instead of creating further punishment themselves? I find this depressing - frankly, my campervan that I bought so we could afford a cheap holiday has a hole in the radiator I was saving up to get fixed, so in the end I may have to loose it as I can`t pay. I am so angry, I can see why people end up in jail, as they may have escalated this beyond anything I can afford- How can they bump this up by £300? I hope you can help.
