    Re: Barclays financial hardship refund

    Hi all,
Just to keep you updated, the manager phoned today to offer a £110! my partner hasnt rejected it yet, just said he'd speak to consumer finance to go through the I&E form and decide what to do from there, they've said they'd waiver the £110 fees this month anyway if he got back to them by the end of the month. I just think its a bit cheeky for them to offer such a low amount. Would it be possible to ask them for a revised offer? My partner is supposed to ring them back with a response. Just wondered what other peoples thought's were about the situation and if you've any advice?
    Thanks in advance!

Well given what's happened to me, which you know all about, it looks like £100+ is the going rate of compensation being offered by Barcrap Bank for Personal Reserve complaints.

IMO your options are either to:

        (a) complain to the FOS to squeeze another £40 out of them (hardly worth the effort...but it will cost Sharkley's a further £500 in FOS fee and keep someone at Marsh Wall in a job); or

        (b) Put together a tight and well constructed financial hardship complaint, assuming the definitions of that apply and that previous correspondence has used the appropriate terminology.

          Hi DB,
          sounds very familiar doesn't it!.

Well my partner's been on the phone with CF department today, they've cancelled this months charges anyway and now temp increased his overdraft (slightly so he wont get charged) then referred him to CCI to consolidate his debts and loan. This is not a route we want to go down as it drags me into it and our unsecured loans on our mortgage etc. It's also getting away from the oringal issue which were the fee's, they just refer from one place to the other. I might send another email to the original fella who offered the £110 with original letter and go down the hardship route again and see if he can increase the offer, if that seems to take us to the FOS then we'll go down that route at least then the crappy bank will get charged £500 on top!

Thanks again, I will keep you posted!

What they have offered if it reduces you overall debt is sufficient under the lending code and financial hardship. With regards to dragging you into it, that will have happened with the I&E anyway.
