Hello people, not sure if i'm posting in the right section, just wanna let everyone know I signed up to try and get a Default removed added on my Credit file by Capquest.

I paid this debt off in full last month and it has been marked 'Settled' on Equifax but I have noticed that it says default in Sept 2010.

I called them today and tried to spout some of the things I had read on here with regards to not receiving a default notice.

They told me to put it in writing.

I moved out of my previous address on 29th July 2010 and I was told today that Shop Direct had actually sent a default notice to me on '13th September 2010' to that same address and that it was been passed to Capquest for recovery.

This means that i did not receive this letter. Is there any way I can have this removed due to this situation?

I am trying to obtain a mortgage with my fiancee in the next few months so would really like to get rid of this.

You can complain to them that they wrote to the wrong address. If you don't get a satisfactory response from them, you can report them to the ICO.

However, your post begs the question did you inform them of your change of address knowing you were in communication with them regarding this debt?

No i didn't inform them of my change of address unfortunately, i simply moved and forgot about it. They did have my telephone number though as they used to call me constantly when i missed a few payments at the start.
If i made a token gesture of payment to CapQuest, do you think that they may remove it for me?

I might add, i spoke to Capquest today and they only had my new address on file and not my old one, they couldn't find any details of the debt at my old address.
