Hi there,
I came across this site today whilst trying to find out what the heck I'm gonna do about the situation I have found myself in, I'm hoping somebody here might be able to give me some advise. I had a debt passed onto Allied International Credit some years ago. I paid the agreed monthly installments, endured the regular demands to pay more a month and eventually asked them for a settlement figure and settled the debt. That was nearly 3 years ago, I have now started getting letters from Aktiv Kapital demanding I owe them the remainder of the debt as it wasn't marked as settled but left as an open account. I have spoken to AIC, but as I have since thrown away all correspondance and account numbers and I didn't get a letter of proof of settlement ( stupid I know!) they can't find me on their system. I am now awaiting a call from them as they say they must look in their archive ( I'm not sure wether I'm being fobbed off?) I'm concerned about where I stand If they say the account was not settled, even though they did not chase me for any further money after the settlement fee. I don't know what to do, please help
UPDATE: I just had a call from AIC, which has surprised me somewhat, saying they have found my account and It WAS closed!!! Just have to wait for them to send me in writing so I can send a copy to Aktiv and who they passed it on to. Any ideas as to why, if it WAS closed, how Aktiv have asked me for more money???? Lesson learned...always keep any correspondance/ account numbers no matter how long has passed AND always get everything in writing!!!
I also have to add that the gentleman I have dealt with today at AIC has really done everything to help me, which I wasn't expecting at all, as I have been on the negative end of their operators in the past. Just goes to show, some DCA do have human's working for them : )
