  • Welcome Finance Issues

    Hi everyone,

Happy New Year. I was wondering if any body could help. I have an issue with welcome finance and need advice as to how to go about dealing with it. I am not one for kicking up a fuss, however whats happened seems completely wrong. I took out a loan at the end of 2008 for £6k. I paid the loan monthly, however i then became unemployed and couldnt make my monthly payment. I notified Welcome finance, who continued to call me and write letters to me on a weekly basis. I then got re employed as expected a couple of months later, after contacting Welcome to set up my DD again i found out that my loan was now in the hands of a company called 'The Lewis Group' whom i had no dealings with what so ever (i never signed anything with this company). Anyway i then proceeded to pay my debt through this party and had no issues as i believed it to be the correct thing to do to clear my history and to pave the way for a better financial future. Recently i applied for a loan and i was declined, i went to Experian who notified me that Welcome had placed a default notice against my name, I was never informed about this so as you can imagine i was completely shocked because these stay on your credit file for 6 years. I really dont know what to do. i have contacted them asking for information to be sent through to my address showing that they informed me about the default notice and for statements to be sent through, however i havent recieved anything to date. I want to get a mortgage, move out from home and really start a fresh but i am now stuck with this default. can anyone help because i never meant for this to happen, my other lenders were so understanding and allowed me the leaway to pay them back and i have done to all of them, this company has really set my plans back and i dont know what to do .... please help :-(
