  • Need some advice please.

    Hi All,
Hope I can get some advice here. I have been paying arrears council tax from a while ago when I was unemployed (Along with my current council tax which is up to date). The company dealing with it are called Rossendales, and I have been making payments of £130.00 every Month. They today stuck a Bailiff Removal notice through my letter box, so rang the Bailiff who demanded payment in full of £574.00, which I am certain is more than the balance, and besides that I have been paying the £130.00 every Month. I explained this to him, and I could hear him rummaging through some papers, he then said the last record he had was a payment of £30.00 in June!! He suggested I call the office which I then did to ask what was going on. They explained I hadnt made any payments, I explained I had, and she subsequently checked and found records. Then she said that I had defaulted because I didnt pay on the same day every month??? I explained I work out of the country, so pay when I am in the country, but still make a payment every Month. She said that was Quote "Unacceptable", and the enforcement order would be carried out in my absence unless I paid the full amount imiediately. List of Payments since June is as follows 2nd June £130.00, Barcode
    29th June £130.00, Barcode
9th July ( because I was going away again) £130.80 by card over the phone (additional 80p for that...!)
19th August (on my return) £130
    21st September £130
And tommorrow would be my next as I am away again from Monday.
I tried to discuss these payments made, but the woman at Rossendales simply talked over me, and refused to even discuss the matter. I then Rang the Local council office, and explained what was going on, the Man their in Local Taxation said he would ring Rossendales (To be fair he didnt sound like he had a clue), he rang me back later simply saying Rossendales said I had not kept to their terms so there was nothing he could do. What next Go to the Newspapers...this is ridiculous. Any advice appreciated. Thanks
