I am looking for advice regarding a car insurance policy which was renewed and charged after the company were informed that the holder would not be renewing.

Was it done on your bank card or Direct Debit?
Is you card a Visa Debit card?(if yes to bank card question)

It was cancelled verbally, one of the reps called and it was clearly stated that it would not be renewed. The payment was taken from a credit card that they had on file.

You should contact Mastercard immeiately and advise them that these peeps have charged your card fraudulently as this was without your explicit authorisation and that you had phoned them to advise that you would not be renewing with them.

ps a rule of thumb for the future always follow up with a letter in writing, as quite often the call centre staff forget to take propper notes of what you have said.
