  • hello everyone

hi everyone. hope you are all good
i joined because i have been having problems with bailiffs, Bristow & Sutor, over unpaid council tax. i have posted my experience so far so i wont go through it all again here lol.
Another problem i cant seem to get resolved (due to lack of funds) is that i'd like to get my ex-partner's name off the title to my property.

Around 10 years ago i paid cash for my house with the proceeds from the sale of a previous property which was solely in my name. My ex (he wasnt my ex at the time) wanted me to also put his name on the title alongside mine and like a complete fool i did just that.
A couple of years ago he was made bankrupt by the inland revenue people because he hadnt been paying taxes (i did not know this at the time). I found out about it when i received repossession papers from IR, his name was on the title and they were going to take my house to pay his debt to them. Apparently he had been receiving correspondence from IR for about 1 YEAR asking him to contact them to discuss paying them back what he owed, it was approximately £6,000, and the mail was addressed to only him (or I would've found out sooner). He chose to ignore their letters for over a year!
I was horrified to recieve a possession order type document from them and i demanded that my ex contact them immediately, and when he did, the matter was already in hands of the Official Receivers.
A long story short - we had to arrange a mortgage to pay his debt to them and prevent the house being possessed by them, and by then there were fees and charges which were astronomical. The debt had escalated to almost £60,000, and because he had ignored it for so long they wouldnt negotiate a lower sum. I was devastated.
So, mortgage in place, he paid it for a year and then decided to leave and off he went, sticking me with his debt to pay back. The Inland Revenue were finally off his case and he was debt free. He left about 14 months ago.
All this has left me hard up and struggling financially. I have kept up with the mortgage payments religiously, my home is all i have.
My problem is that i want his name taken off the title. Solicitors have advised me that this cannot be done on legal aid and the fee will cost £600+.
I simply cannot find this amount, and i am concerned that should anything happen to me he could possibly one day end up with a house he hasnt paid a penny for.
Is there anything I can do?
I would very much appreciate any advice that anyone has to offer.
    Thankyou in advance.

    Re: hello everyone

From the lack of response i have to assume there is nothing i can do except come up with the fee quoted.
I just thought there might be a way to possibly do a title transfer myself or at a fraction of the cost.
Thanx for reading anyway, appreciate your time.
