I am having endless problems with Welcome and I convinced there are others out there who may be in the same position with them.
I took out a loan with them in 2006 £160 per month, all payments have been made. I was made redundant during christmas 2006 and missed a pmt which i made in person at my local branch in Jan 07. I have made 36 pmts of £160 as agreed. However less than a mth before the loan was coming to an end I get a statement stating I still owe over £700. They charged me interest on that 1 late pmt which means they were charging me £20 a mth for 31 mths. At no point did anyone at welcome inform me of this. Two calls to their office this year to confirm that I would be cancelling standing order in August and both times were told that was correct the loan was at and end.
I have written a letter of complaint which they have responded saying that the £700 has to be paid in full on 1st august 09. I simply do not have this money. I was also mis sold the ppi of £832. I explained to them that I do not have the income to pay off this, the only response I got was that they would default me.
