      Hi Gopie

      Wecome to Legal Beagles.

You may be aware the currently bank charges are being litigated with the OFT v Abbey and others and are about to go to the House of Lords and these claims are being stayed by the courts. This should not stop you from starting your claim. If you fall under hardship then the FSA has made certain conditions available to hardship cases with the banks and we have a section on hardship cases and have had a lot of successes, you can view this on the side bar.

Please start a thread in the Bank charges sections so that peeps here can help you along the way.

In order to start reclaiming your bank charges, firstly you would need the last 6 years of bank statements or more if you have them.

If you do not have them you would have to send a SAR to your bank with £10 for them to process this information. All the details can be found in the template libraries for the SAR.

You will then need to make a spreadsheet of the charges with the stautory 8% interest and send to your bank a pre-lim letter together with your spready of charges. Again you will find spreadsheets which has been specifically designed to help you in this respect.

If you have any problems finding anything please shout and one of the team will help you.
