Hello, this is a first post, nice to meet you
Last July I hired a roofer [thru 'My Builder' - big mistake] to re-roof a bedroom bay dormer. The dormer roof leaked after he installed it; he used the wrong grade felt which overhung the guttering. he tried to install different colour guttering. He continually badgered me for £ before he completed. I paid him £3000. I had to bring in another roofer to put right his mess, paying another £1000 plus. The original roofer has ignored me when I have asked him to remove his scaffolding. He demanded last year, another £700.
I have also kindly emailed the scaffold hire co giving 2 weeks to take it down. He replied inferring it would be taken down but has not.
What rights do I have [a pensioner with long covid, M.E. CFS]....
- to have the scaffold removed by another company [who will dispose of it hopefully] or get friends to take it down
- to go through a solicitor and make a claim through 'small claims' - how long do i have before I run out of time?
- contact the local Council's Safety Executive?
Any help on this would be gratefully received. It's unlikely I can sue 'My Builder' I think who recommended this scammer
