I've recently won a case, and very much suspect the defendant will appeal and lose, then refuse to pay. I assume my only option will be to hire a bailiff, and this comes with risks when dealing with a litigious and dishonest defendant. Any advice would be appreciated... especially from anyone who's had good or bad experiences with bailiffs.

Find out all you can about the defendant and anything that he may own.

Thanks. One problem is, even though the judgement came in March, I still haven't received the court order, or anything in writing to confirm I've won the case. Presumably without that, I can't enforce anything. In fact the defendant may not even realise she's lost (as she didn't show up). I've written to the court but they take up to 17 weeks to respond.
