  • Primark ban?

I'm ashamed to admit I shoplifted from Primark as a dare, but what's done is done. The manager was called down and they didn't ask for a name, nor any sort of identification, or to pay a fine. Just took back what I had and told me I was under a 5 year ban and all the cctv camera's had my face, but they didn't take any proper photos of me.

How true is it that I'll be detained next time If i walk in? Is this ban truly a ban without any written evidence? And is there any way that I am able to get it reduced and/or pay it back by working or something? I'm just abit freaked that it's five years and It's been eating me up inside. I've never done something like this, and being put up to it is making me shake with anxiety at the outcome.

    Help, please?

They can ban you for as long as they want to but that wouldn't allow them to detain you if you went back into the shop although they can require you to leave immediately. But best not to test what they would do - they are entitled to ban you. So don't go back there.

They don't know who you are so don't disclose your identity by trying to discuss it with them. They aren't going to change their mind in exchange for you offering to do work for them.

If they use facial recognition cameras - I don't know if they do or not - they might be able to identify you as a banned person even though they don't know your name/address.
