  • NRCA

Hi I received a NRCA letter from a well known shop. Heading notice of intended criminal and civil proceedings.
telling me to pay £180 for fraud then jumps to £340 at the end of the letter.
i have never heard of this company and after Researching this site I can’t Find anything on it.
I have heard of NBCA but not NRCA. Should I do anything or be worried
    thanks

Could NRCA be this organisation, National Retail Crime Alliance? https://www.nbcs.info/

If so it appears to be just a trade body with no legal status or powers. It looks like they "rebranded" not long ago and were previously called National Business Crime Solution (NBCS) (which is still their website URL). I haven't come across them before and searching 'NRCA' or 'NBCS' on here brings up nothing.

Please post on here the letter you have received after covering up your name and address and anything that could identify you such as NRCA reference numbers or barcodes.

Hello thank you for your response. I am unable to add a picture of the letter so I will read it out to you. It says NRCA in capitals at the top of the left-hand corner and then there is rest at the right saying national retail crime Alliance.
And then in bold says “notice of intended criminal and civil proceedings”
      dear Joe, blocks
      then the ship name.
we write with reference to the above retailer who is a member of our organisation and further to our previous email we are instructed that on a date you are ??? committed fraud by false representation contractor section 2 of the fraud act 2006 tooling £500 by advising that you have returned items which were not received by the merchants as a result of your actions a member has Suffered loss damages and costs totalling £692 and is considering both a formal complaint to the authorities and preparing to Perue this claim in the county court to recoup their losses. This action will result in further charges being added to the outstanding amount and could lead to a criminal conviction and a CCJ being recorded against you.
Then it read it says you can avoid further action by paying the outstanding amount now and then it says the bank account.
payments must reach us by 16th of February 2026. You must ensure what you use a reference number at the top of this letter otherwise it will not be paid through. Please be advised that failure to pay this outstanding amount to provide a satisfy resolution will leave us with no choice but escalate this matter to the authorities and pursue you for both nonpayment and suspected fraudulent conduct .
And then underlined it says as we do not seek to profit from the cost of this recovery we will reduced our admin fee. A payment is made in full within 14 days of this letter. The amount will bexxxx.
You are advised to see legal advice from a solicitor or citizens advice bureau.

You need to proof read and correct before posting letters on here if you are going to use voice recognition software. There's a lot things garbled in what you posted.

Howevr it looked familiar and I found several threads on Reddit from people who have received the same letter.

        https://www.reddit.com/r/LegalAdvice...riminal_civil/

Sports direct NRCA Notice for £773 : r/LegalAdviceUK

It seems that NRCA is a debt collector used by Sports Direct/House of Fraser/Fraser Group and like all debt collectors has zero powers. Opinion on Reddit is that it may actually be owned or controlled by them. Is one of those companies the shop referred to in your letter?

Reddit users reported getting the letters when either they had returned something but Sports Direct/House of Fraser/Fraser Group denied receining it (even when there was evidence that it had been delivered) or when people had got their bank to process a Chargeback or s75 refund.

The letter says "...further to our previous email...". What did that email say?

If you want advice on what to do you need to give us the full back story. Why has this been sent to you? What happened?

National Business Crime Solution Ltd [NBCS] is the predecessor company of NRCA. NBCS went out of business earlier this year and the company is now insolvent and in Adminstration. National Retail Crime Alliance Ltd [NRCA] is a new company but it appears to have bought the NBCS assets and continued to operate the business under the NRCA name, even using the same template letters, describing it as a "rebrand".

Thank you. I will wait the response. However I am
rather worried. The letter seems to be the same as what other people on here have got.ahould I be worried?
1, They call themselves non profit but are asking me for more money then reducing it.
2,I have been on there face book page and there’s lots of retailers that they have helped in getting there money back.
3, what could the 2nd letter look if I got one and what letter can’t I ignore?
Thank you so much for your time

Thank you and apologies for a lot of the letter was done by voice I will know in future not to do this.
I have never Received any emails from the shop NEXT I did receive a letter from them. It wasn’t in 2024 it was in 2025. They have always Received my items back and I have never done a charge back. ( I think this is that they mean from the start of the letter ) I sent wrong item back they refunded me. I have done this a few times ( I know I was stupid). I don’t understand how they can prove I have sent the wrong one back months after it was returned ( it was a non NEXT product so is not I identified as NEXT products are. Saying that how do they know it wasn’t switched by someone else. As like I said they refunded me surely they would need to prove Without reasonable doubt before taking me to court.
i have been on there Facebook account and it says they have helped online shops with fraud. Unless they mean people have paid up.
Do you know of anyone who has gone to court over the same thing?.
                  Thank you

Are you saying that you asked Next for a refund and they refunded you but the product you returned to them wasn't the one you bought from them but something cheaper that wasn't bought from Next at all?

And that you did this more than once? How many times is "a few times"?

Sorry, I am still not clear what happened.

Were the items you returned to Next things that you had bought from Next? Because you said that what you returned "...was a non NEXT product...".
