I think you need to provide the full story, so we can understand better what's happened.

      Hi.
ast year I worked in a retail store and got fired for stealing (I'm not proud, I regret it) after that I got couple of letters from civil recovery to pay but I ignored them . The police been in my house spoke with my mom asked about my phone number . They said something happened at work they can’t talk about it with her .

Did the police leave contact details? What did they say they would do? i.e. make contact again etc.

If the police want to interview you, make sure you have a solicitor present.

You started a post in January 2025, but then didn't post anything.

If the police are involved, then your former employer has lodged a complaint.

Also what does the civil recovery letter say?

The police didn’t leave any contact number, nothing.
My mom gave them my phone number and they just say thank you and drove away .
in January I got my first letter from civil recovery that say I have to pay £800 if not it could end up in the court.
I didn’t get any more letter from March.
What can I do if the police call me, really nervous

          thank you

I think they are trying to trick me with this letter to make me pay £800 Is so much, that’s why I ignored them .
I don’t want any trouble, do you think it’s better pay if they asked my again?

You need to provide more details, what did you take i.e. value etc.
Why have they sent letter stating £800?

What you've receiver is a letter regarding Civil Recovery.

The police involvement is about a criminal matter which has been reported to them.

From what you've posted, I can't see why the police would be involved.

Neither the retailer or police could account for the £700 costs they seem to be claiming.

Ok thank you . Do you think it’s better pay if the police asked me this time ? If they contact me ? And if I pay the case will be closed?
