I'm new to the forum and would like some advice on trespassing

I've been accused of trespass on a small piece on land at the end of my garden. Got a solicitors letter. Cannot afford a solicitor. I've been in possession of it since 2014. 2022 neighbour bought a larger piece of land adjoining it. Told us to get off. to cut a long story short, we moved back the boundary a bit and he seemed to agree. Came back end of 2022 and threatened. I found out that he had not registered the land until 2023 and had declared on form FR1 that he knew of no-one else in possession of it. But he's known of us there since 2014. Now got this solicitors letter saying he will take me to court and clain damages if I don't move off. Help!
