  • Right of way

Hi new to the forum, can anyone tell me if there is wording on house deeds as my council neighbour wants access through our garden, they want access to put their bins out but have kept them in the drive for 3 years in the front of their house, they agreed this because we have a older son with a brain injury and tends to wonder now because we have complained about noise there being awkward as we have a padlock on the gate, now in being threatened by the council because I won’t unlock it due to safety issues Thank you

If there is a right of way it should be shown on the title register for your house (the "deeds") at the Land Registry. You can download from the Land Registry site (you need to set up an account for yourself first). I think it costs about £3.

It is quite common for rights of way for this purpose to exist.

The cost has gone up, to £7.50.

Wow, that's a big increase since I last used it! Thanks for the update.

For Bob Dillon, this is link to Land Registry page to get a copy of the title register.
