Hi all, newbie here looking for some advice. I received 13 letters from Cabot from 2-17 January asking me to contact them to start a payment plan for a debt of £2k for an old MBNA credit card, which I dispute. I called Cabot to complain about the letters and raise a complaint refusing to make any payments until they could prove I owed the debt. The alleged debt is not on my credit file so I sent a CCA request to them. They have responded stating they can't provide the information request and the debt is now unenforceable however, I should still contact them to make payment as the debt is still outstanding. I have also received a letter from them saying they agree with my complaint and have offered me £100 for the distress caused and can I ring them and provide them with my account details so they can arrange a refund.
My questions are................If the debt is unenforceable, should I still have to pay? Also I am concerned they want me to contact them with my bank details so they can transfer the compensation they are offering. I feel like this is a set up to get my bank details or start the clocking ticking on the debt.
Sorry for the long post but any help and advice would be much appreciated.
