opinions on the nature of windshield repair warranties (Safelite)

I'm just curious here what other people think. Safelite has a windshield repair warranty, admittedly I didnt read it before having them repair my windshield, and the repair didnt take as the small dent spread into a large crack. They will only provide credit towards a replacment windshield, and it appears only if its done with them. To me, not only does that seem a bit self serving, but more to my point it doesnt seem to fit the definition of a "warranty" since there are no refund options and of course they wont credit you with anyone else but them to do the replacement.
I'm not that upset about it, the crack is very low down on the windshield and does not hinder vision at all, but it kindof irks me that they are calling this a "warranty" and advertising it as such very widely and prominently. Anyone else care to chime in with opinions? Cheers

This is a UK site, but I think you are in the USA.

Certainly over here "warranties" vary from company to company over the coverage they give (or don't when it comes to the crunch )
As with all things "buyer beware"
