  • RLP Letter

    Hello,
On the 2nd of October I was caught shoplifting for reasons i do not want to disclose because they are quite sensitive. I took an item that was £16 but it was not damaged or scuffed. I have now received a letter stating I have to pay a fine to RLP, I have payed for it today. I just wanted to know, would RLP give me a confirmation of the money going into the actual case?

    No they won't.

We would have advised you not to pay them if you had come here first. It isn't a fine (only courts can fine you) and you have no legal obligation to pay them a penny. They won't tell you what they do with the money so don't waste time asking. Maybe they use it to pay for their staff Christmas party? Who knows.

thank you! i was worried that because it didn’t send an email or anything to tell me it had been payed that it wasn’t be considered. for future reference, if anyone i know gets into this situation i will be directing them to this forum!
Are you completely sure they don’t send any confirmation emails or letters saying the payment has been made?

Do you just mean do they confirm they have received your payment? No idea. Email them and ask them.

I would absolutely ignore it and any more you get. It's highly unlikely that they'll take any action beyond sending you this type of letter in the hope they'll scare you into paying them. Don't engage with them and they'll have no choice but to give up.
