Conditional caution 4years ago for theft from employer. I paid money back. I'm looking at applying for a job as a school receptionist. Is it worth me trying or will I fail mat dbs checks. Don't want the embarrassment of it all. I still live with the guilt if my actions daily - please advise thank you x

It will depend on what level of DBS check they will do but as it is for a school it will likely be more than basic.
A standard DBS check includes more information than a basic DBS check and will detail all unspent cautions and convictions, but also some spent ones.

An Enhanced DBS check is required for anyone employed in a school in England.
Conditional cautions will appear on an enhanced DBS for 6 years, sometimes more.
Impossible to say whether the MAT would employ you. But if you do decide to apply perhaps an informal chat to HR first. What you must never do is fail to disclose it in your application and then the school only finds out when they receive the DBS.Last edited by PallasAthena; 11th September 2024, 20:00:PM.All opinions expressed are based on my personal experience.
