  • Applying for job with conditional caution

Conditional caution 4years ago for theft from employer. I paid money back. I'm looking at applying for a job as a school receptionist. Is it worth me trying or will I fail mat dbs checks. Don't want the embarrassment of it all. I still live with the guilt if my actions daily - please advise thank you x

It will depend on what level of DBS check they will do but as it is for a school it will likely be more than basic.

A standard DBS check includes more information than a basic DBS check and will detail all unspent cautions and convictions, but also some spent ones.

To check if your conviction is spent or unspent then you can check on the government linked to below:

If you would like a one-to-one expert consultation with me on your employment issue than I can be contacted by emailing admin@legalbeaglesgroup.com

I do not provide advice by PM although I may on occasion ask you to send me documents this way but any related advice will be provided back on your thread.

I do my best to provide good practical advice, however I do so without liability.
If you have any doubts then do please seek professional legal advice.

An Enhanced DBS check is required for anyone employed in a school in England.

Conditional cautions will appear on an enhanced DBS for 6 years, sometimes more.

Impossible to say whether the MAT would employ you. But if you do decide to apply perhaps an informal chat to HR first. What you must never do is fail to disclose it in your application and then the school only finds out when they receive the DBS.
