  • Council Tax Premiums

    Hi

As a second home owner and pensioner - not filthy rich or dirt poor - I foresee problems ahead when council tax premiums take effect next April.

I’d guess that the general public’s attitude toward second home owners is akin to that toward sub postmasters when ‘fraud’ was seen as rampant but before the Horizon scandal broke. This includes some legal circles judging by my attempts to line up legal advice (for which of course I’d be prepared to pay) in the event of possible problems next year.

Martin Lewis the money guru is reported to have said that Councils behave like ‘Loan Sharks’ in the event of disputes (see https://tinyurl.com/bd8z5jkk)

Does anyone else share these concerns?

What problem are you forseeing for yourself when (if?) your council uses its new council tax premium powers next April?
