  • Charging order help

    Hi - newbie here
hope someone can help. I have an old charging order for CL Finance Ltd ( the solicitor was Howard Cohen) its
from 2009. I need to eat this paid as part of a consolidation loan, and need a redemption statement for my solicitor so this can be paid.
BUT I’m having trouble finding them or anyone who actually has this debt !
Anyone here have any insight as to how I can get hold of them or who now has the debt. Every avenue I’ve tried had drawn a blank.
also, does anyone know what happens if the company longer exists and there is no one I can actually pay ? Does the charge stay on my property with no way of ever getting it removed ?

    CL Finance Limited: https://find-and-update.company-info...mpany/01108021

Check that the company registration number is the same - 1108021.

(I am puzzled why your solicitor could not make this simple Companies House check.)

What details are given on the entry on your Land Registry title document? Does it give a company name and number?

Mind you, that company has been called CL Finance Limited since 1989, i.e. well before 2009. Its accounts state that although it no longer trades it is "counterparty" to a number of charging orders.

Seems to be a source of frustration to many:

A poster on this thread suggests CL Finance Ltd were taken over by Hoist Finance:

Also found this on the web:

CL Finance are a Debt Collection company with a company number of 08303007. Their full company name is Hoist Finance Uk Limited. They are registered in the United Kingdom to collect debts.
The registered address on Companies House for Hoist is the same as that for the CL Finance that atticus linked to.

Hoist Finance is the parent company, as stated in the accounts of CL Finance.

Also, the company mentioned in the quote in Huxie's post cannot be CL Finance Limited, even if it trades as "CL Finance".
