Could someone help me please? If a Parish Clerk posts an anonymous negative letter from a parishioner about me on the parish council website is this legal?

As a parish councillor this is very interesting. Are you identifiable from the letter? In what context has it been published?

Posting a letter is legal. Posting a letter that is or may be defamatory is unwise, and may lead to legal action.
Lawyer (solicitor) - retired from practice, now supervising solicitor in a university law clinic. I do not advise by private message.

Litigants in Person should download and read this: https://www.judiciary.uk/wp-content/..._in_Person.pdf

Anything the parish council publishes about you on its website could be defamatory. But just because it could be defamatory doesn't mean it is. Something negative isn't automatically defamatory.
All opinions expressed are based on my personal experience. I am not a lawyer and do not hold any legal qualifications.

Yes very much identifiable by the letter, which the Parish Clerk has published without any reference to me or a right to respond. It has been published in the Newsletter on the Parish Website under the auspice of free speech.

So the way forward is a formal complaint to the standards committee at your local borough council I believe
