Claim dismissed years ago, still being harassed

Hello from a newbie. My question is how can I stop the annual 'statement of account' from a certain debt collection group. Their claim against me was dismissed by the judge years ago. so surely they should have removed my details from their computer and leave me alone. I have not written to them so far as I do not want to open up a line of communication again,and I feel that this is a form of harassment. Any ideas what can be done about this please?

Have you got evidence that the Judge dismissed the case? If you have the proof that would be good, if not can you get it?

If you have, you should lodge a formal complaint, follow their complaints procedure on their website. Once you get a final response / deadlock letter, if you still aren't happy, you should lodge a complaint with the FOS.

You should be seeking compensation from them as they are seeking money from you that you don't owe, they are 'harassing' you to obtain this money. You are protected in this regard by the Protection from Harassment Act 1997.

If you have evidence that the claim was dismissed years ago, you could try to make life difficult for them by complaining about them to the Information Commissioners Office (ICO)

My understanding - which might be wrong - is that the people harrassing you may be committing an offence if they are continuing to "process" your data without a legitimate reason.

You haven't given sufficient detail here for anyone to determine whether you may have a valid complaint, but why not contact the ICO and ask if you have grounds for a complaint against the debt collectors? Make a complaint | ICO

Once you lodge a Formal Complaint they are obliged to follow the FOS complaint protocols.
They are allowed to investigate the complaint for 8 weeks, then the FOS can investigate the matter.

Dismissed "years ago". Can you be more specific, which year?

What reason is stated in the judgement for the dismissal? That might be relevant to an ICO complaint. If, for example, it was statute barred that doesn't extinguish the debt, just makes it unenforceable.

You have the right to be forgotten .... or erasure; complain,
then contact the ICO if they wont listen
