So today Iím ashamed to say I was stopped at a local grocery store with some shopping if not paid for, I handed the bag back and said I had the receipt in the car and would be back in a few mins, no details were taken of mine, no name address or anything I just got in my car and drove off. Is there a chance I can still be contacted by the police there maybe was £50 worth of goods which never even got past the security gates or the exit

Please try not to worry, if you handed back the goods and then left you are not likely to be contact by the police as they have not details of who you are or where you live. With you handing back the items there has been not loss to the store owner.

I would just suggest you do not shop at the local grocery store.

      Hello & Welcome
I cant see you can be charged for this if it never left the store, I mean, I have used shopping bags before now instead of a basket - bc the latter was not available. If they have their own car park, it's most likely they have your car reg. so you could be pos. black-listed, and they probably have your face from their cameras; its pos. they could make a file on you. Personally I wouldn't worry, but I would shop elsewhere just in case. [I don't think face recognition tech. is legal here...]
Police are being called less and less for these things.
