    Hi Tarapara

    Welcome to LB

It's not a fine, it's a speculative invoice, no breakdown of costs. Any costs or losses are mitigated in their 'Business Model'. You should not pay, you will receive 2 / 3 more letters, just file them away. They got their product back, there is no loss. It is very unlikely they will take you to Court. If they did, they would have to tell the Court what their costs and losses are, a tough one for them.

Thank you so much for replying , I just wanted to know when the police is not involved at the time , are there any chance to be involve later and the retail taking me to the court even after paying the £150

If you pay or don't pay, it is very, very unlikely the police will be involved ever, they won't take you to Court later or ever.

Don't pay until they can show you a breakdown of costs. There is no loss to them.

There's nothing to be scared of, we've had hundreds in a similar situation, the advice is the same, ignore them.

Just file the letters away when you get them. Just update the thread every time you get a letter.

I've just read the thread. As usual excellent advice but I fully understand your wish to avoid hassle.
Sorry that you seem to have too much on your plate. Keep going and trust. Best wishes.

Thank you , my worries is I normally did my shopping there and I did the same thing couple days before I get caught , and they know me , do you think they will check the cctv before the incident date and they will know I did it before , but please do not judge me for that , I am feeling ashamed and disgust , but I got a lesson of my life

If you are going to pay them, offer to pay £100, explain that you have kids, cost of living crisis etc. They have lost nothing.

The answer is in your post, what exactly are they going to take you to Court for?

You say you've paid the 'speculative invoice' with no breakdown of actual costs.

When you get the receipt for the payment you made, can you upload it to this thread.
