  • Do you have to do UK Probate if you own overseas immovable assets?

Hi… a relation died 3 years ago now. There was a long illness and is unlikely there wasn’t a will involved.

There was part ownership of a house in the UK, part ownership of a holiday home abroad as well as full ownership of another property abroad.

The full property abroad has been passed transferred to a beneficiary recently but I’m suspicious that this has been done to avoid declaring the property in the UK.

Does probate in the UK need to declare these properties abroad?

Isn't the better question what are the requirements in the jurisdiction in question for transferring title to this asset following the death of its owner?
Lawyer (solicitor) - retired from practice, now supervising solicitor in a university law clinic. I do not advise by private message.

Litigants in Person should download and read the Judiciary's handbook for litigants in person: https://www.judiciary.uk/wp-content/..._in_Person.pdf
