    I was exactly the same and know that energy companies can't be trusted. If they can manipulate 'smart meters' to their advantage they will.

      Glad to hear about the mobile signal EXC. Mine is also awful so if they ever try to "force" it on us perhaps I will escape...
      It's only thanks to text via wifi calling that I can receive texts which is essential to modern day life. You just can't log in to anything these days without being able to receive one-time pass codes. It's just one of the quirks of living in rural England. I don't get mains gas either but have 1gb FTTP broadband. There's zero road traffic but you have to dodge horse riders constantly. But it's a compromise I wouldn't change!
