  • Council fake court documents

We have received a magistrates court summons from the council regarding an outstanding amount which is already subject to an agreement to pay. There has been no other correspondence since the agreement was made until we received the summons.

The summons paperwork looked suspicious with a poorly photocopied HMCTS logo so we phoned the court to check whether there was actually a summons. The court confirmed there was not and that the paperwork did not have the correct details to be a genuine summons, in fact, the court had never heard of us.

Is this the council doing something illegal? And what can we do about it?

Is it a council tax liability order or similar?
